Officials before the king

आयुक्तप्रदिष्ठायां भूमौ अनुगातः प्रविशेत।उपविशेच्चपाश्वतः मन्निकृष्टबिप्रकृष्टः।वरासन विगृह्यकथनमसभ्यमप्रत्यकषमश्रद्धेयमनृतं च वााक्यमुच्चैरनर्मणि हासं वातष्ठीवने च शब्दवती न कुर्यात।मिथः कथनमन्येन ,जनवादे द्न्द्वकथन,राग्योवेषमुद्दतकुहकानां च ,रत्नातिसयप्रकाशाभ्यर्थनम्,एकाक्षोष्ठनिर्भोगं,भ्रुकुटीकर्म,वाक्यावक्ज़ेपनं च ब्रुवति,बलवतसंयुक्तविरोधं स्त्रीभिः स्त्रीदर्सिभिः सामन्तदूतैर्द्वेर्ष्यपक्षावक्षिप्तानथ्येर्श्च प्रतिसमसर्गमेकार्ण संघातं च वर्जयेत्।

राज्याधिकारियों को राजाग्या प्राप्त करके ही राजा के सामने जाना चाहिए। राजा के न तो ज्यादा समीप न उनसे ज्यादा दूर बैठना चाहिए। श्रेष्ठ स्थान की प्राप्ति के लिए कभी विवाद न करे, न तो किसी असभ्यतापूर्ण शब्द का प्रयोग करे। जो असत्य या पूर्णतः प्रमाणित न हो वह राजा से न कहे। राजा के सामने कभी भी उच्च स्वर में हँसना, अपानवायु निष्कासित करना उचित नहीं। राजा के समीप बैठ कर दूसरों से बातें न करे। अफवाहों पर तर्क न करे। राजा जैसा या मायावियों जैसा वेश नहीं बनाना चाहिए। किसी रत्नादि के लिए राजा से अधिक अनुरोध न करे। एक नेत्र, टेढी॰ भृकुटी, और ओष्ठ टेढा॰ करके बातें न करे। राजा से बात करते समय सावधान रहे। बलवान शत्रु के पक्षवालों से विरोध न करे। स्त्रियों के साथ, स्त्रियों को देखनेवालों के साथ, अन्य राजाओं के दूतों के साथ, राजद्रोहियों, उदासीनों, जिसे राजा ने त्याग दिया हो एवं अनर्थकारियों से मित्रता न करे। न तो दलबन्दी करे न तो किसी एक बात पर अडे॰।

An officer should go before the king only when he is asked for. He should not sit either very close to the king or at too far . One should not argue for a higher seat nor should use any word below dignity against anybody, should not tell lies to the king as well as anything what is not confirmed. One should not laugh loudly or fart in front of him. One should not talk with others sitting near the king.  One should not argue on any rumor. One should not dress himself as the king or a clown. One should not insist for getting any gem from the king. One should not talk to the king with eyebrows and lips twisted and looking with one eye. One should be careful while talking with the king. One should not take enmity with the more powerful people. One should not have friendship with women, to those who look after women, envoys of the neighboring kings, those who support his enemies , uninterested in any party, officers dismissed by the king and trouble creators. One should not form any group , neither show too much resistance for anything.
