इन्द्रस्य हि मन्त्रिपरिषदृषिणां सहस्रम्। स तच्चक्षुः।तस्मादिमं द्वयक्षं सहस्राक्षमाहु।

एक राजा के लिए शासन चलाना तबतक सम्भव नहीं है जबतक उसे समस्त राज्य की गतिविधियों की पूरी जानकारी न हो।

इन्द्र के मंत्रिपरिषद में एक हजार ऋषि हैं इसी कारण दो आँखोंवाले इन्द्र हजार आँखोंवाले बने हुए हैं और उन्हें सहस्राक्ष कहा जाता है।

A king cannot work efficiently unless he is fully informed about what is happening around his territory.

Indra works through thousand risshis who keep him informed from every part of the earth. He is known as SAHSRAAKSHHA ( one who has thousand eyes) for the same reason.
